Scott Reid Takes Bronze for Canada’s Best Constituency MP

May 11, 2009

Parliament Hill – On April 13, Scott Reid was declared the 3rd Best Constituency MP in the country by the Hill Times’ Annual Survey. The survey, now in its 17th year, asked MPs and staff on Parliament Hill who is the best constituency MP on Parliament Hill. Scott Reid tied with two other MPs for third most votes.

“I am honoured to have been voted one of the best MPs around for the services and assistance I provide for the folks in my riding.”

Providing services to constituents has remained a priority for Mr. Reid. He has fulfilled his campaign promises in past elections to make his services more available by instituting a “mobile office” that routinely visits the smaller communities and by opening a third Constituency Office in Perth.

Mr. Reid is well-known around Parliament Hill for keeping his constituents apprised of upcoming issues of interest by sending regular “News Updates” via mail which no doubt contributed to his win.

But Mr. Reid was also quick to share the win. “I have always believed that my staff is the hardest working in Canada.” Reid continued, “They’re really the ones who help people with everything from applying for a passport to getting congratulatory messages for milestone occasions and I’m glad that their efforts are getting some well-deserved recognition.”

The two other third place winners are neighbouring MP Cheryl Gallant of Renfrew-Nippissing-Pembroke and Yukon MP Larry Bagnell.
