Scott Reid & Reeve Thompson Announce Federal Support for Frizzell Road Reconstruction
May 19, 2009Centreville – Stone Mills Township Reeve Debbie Thompson joined local MP Scott Reid today in Centreville to announce that the federal government has agreed to commit over $1,000,000 to reconstruct Frizzell Road.
“Frizzell Road represents a much-needed improvement to the area,” said Reid. “The improvement will ensure the continued usability of that road for the folks nearby far into the future.”
The funds to support the reconstruction of Frizzell Road are part of Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s Economic Action Plan to provide immediate stimulus to kick-start the Canadian economy.
The Economic Action Plan was introduced earlier this year in the 2009 federal budget. It is a $12 billion investment that is expected to create thousands of jobs in construction nationwide while revitalizing Canada’s roads, bridges, highways and municipal infrastructure.
Reid stated, “I am pleased to see this project move forward and see the people of Stone Mills benefit from the government’s economic stimulus plan.”
Building improved infrastructure in places like Centreville will stimulate the economy of today and provide real value to everyone for years to come.
