Scott Reid Keeps Expenses Low

November 21, 2011

Ottawa – Local MP Scott Reid’s office expenses were among the overall lowest in Canada last year, recently released documents reveal.  Mr. Reid spent $0 in each of two categories – advertising and hospitality – and his $2,439.96 travel budget was the lowest among Canada’s 308 MPs.

According to Mr. Reid, there are several reasons that helped him to keep his costs lower than other MPs.  “For one, I live just outside of Carleton Place – which means I don’t rely on government-paid transportation to travel to and from Ottawa.”

“I also believe that MPs get more perks than we really need.  That’s why I rarely ask taxpayers to pay for things like hospitality and advertising for myself,” Reid continued.

The office expenditures for every MP are released in November each year for the most recent fiscal year.  The figures for 2010-2011 were released earlier this month.
