Reid Available For Comment On Conservative Party Nomination Race In Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox And Addington

February 23, 2004

Parliament Hill (Ottawa) – Scott Reid, MP (Lanark-Carleton) is available for comment on the recent events surrounding the nomination race in Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington.

Conservative candidate Bill Vankoughnet’s nomination application was rejected by the Party’s head office for leaving out vital information on the application. Mr. Vankoughnet won an injunction against the Party to halt the nomination process, pending a review of his application and delaying the nomination vote, which was set to take place on Saturday, February 21, 2004.

Mr. Reid disapproves of the decision to remove Mr. Vankoughnet from the ballot. On February 21, Reid advised the Board of Directors of the Lanark-Frontenac-Lennox and Addington riding association that he would be passing a motion requesting that Mr. Vankoughnet be reinstated on the ballot.
