Scott Reid, M.P., supports Andrew Scheer for Conservative leader

May 5, 2017

I support Andrew Scheer to be the next leader of the Conservative Party of Canada.

I’m posting this note because an odd CBC article appeared last evening which contained statements on the Conservative leadership contest from, among others, a person named Scott Reid, based in Ottawa. I was reading a text version of the article, which did not include photos. In doing so, I had the odd experience of reading statements that I thought, for a short time, were being attributed to me. The statements, and a description of that person’s choices for the Conservative leadership, bear no resemblance to statements I might make, nor to my own preferences for the next Conservative leader. The Scott Reid in that CBC article is not me.

The CBC writer of this article could have be much clearer when writing it. To her credit, once I contacted her to request that a note be added to the article to clarify for readers that the Scott Reid referred to in it was not Scott Reid, the Member of Parliament (that would be me), I was told it would be clarified and, immediately after that response, it was in fact clarified in an updated version of the article.

The CBC article can be found HERE.
